Is the spray safe for my pets?

Natural tick and mosquito control:

Yes, the products that we use are made from plant-based essential oils and are designed to be low-risk around people and animals. You should let it dry however, since pets can be sensitive to essential oils when they are still wet.

Synthetic Pyrethroids for tick and mosquito control:

Yes, these products are safe for pets when fully dried. They’re commonly used in yards, perimeters and lawns where dogs and cats frequent. Synthetic pyrethroids are designed for low mammalian toxicity once dry, but we always take precautions.

*Hybrid approach: Some customers like to get natural tick control around the yard where their pets go, then synthetic mosquito control in the higher foliage.

Lawn weed control:

Yes after fully drying. If your pet likes to chew on or eat the grass, you should wait longer, 24-48 hours.

Please note that in NY, the DEC requires us to put out yellow pesticide warning signs even for organic applications, which have no re-entry requirement.

Does the natural stuff really work for ticks and mosquitoes?

It works great for about 90% of customers.

The other 10% may need either:

A one-time chemical application, the results of which are then easily maintained with natural products for the rest of the season.
A hybrid approach; natural products used around the house, areas where kids and pets play, etc., plus a chemical application around the perimeter of the property.

Do I need to be home when you service my property?

No you don’t. As long as we have access to any gated areas and your pets are inside, we’re good to go.

How often are the treatments?

Tick control, and lawn fertilization and weed control services are done 5 times per year, approximately every 6 weeks.

Mosquito services are done 9 times per year, every 3 weeks.

When bundling both tick and mosquito control, we spray every 3 weeks for both, about 10x per year total.

Additional services such weed control and deer repellent are done every 3-6 weeks or as needed.

Will rain affect the application?

Rain 24+ hours later seems to have very little impact.

Heavy rain within a few hours of the application can cause problems.

A spreader sticker used for organic farming is added to the mixture which helps the product adhere through the rain.

A lot of rain creates better conditions for mosquitoes to reproduce, so this will also affect your treatments indirectly.

You can always just call/text/email if you have any issues.

Does my grass need to be mowed first?

Tall grass is a good habitat for ticks and mosquitoes. Keeping your grass mowed will help control them, but it is not necessary to mow your lawn right before having the treatment done unless it’s extremely overgrown.

Routine mowing is not an issue, so there is no need to try to time your treatments around your mowing schedule.

How do I pay?

Card on file is required and charged automatically after each service. You are only charged for one visit at a time.

You can also pre-pay the season by check or Zelle until May 1st.
